very excited to be about to offer a new modular case architecture.  the new aluminum frames are now on hand, i'm just waiting for power supplies.  a variety of configurations in hardwood and bamboo plywood will be available at around $290 per 6u, plus power.  email for volume/preorder discounts.

release of aluminum frames due shortly...

I've been having fun working on new shapes for the end cheeks for the new metal frames.  Here are a few in walnut and spalted maple.  I chose to use slightly oversized pieces of 1" thick wood for the smaller cases, as my experience patching with 3u and 6u desktop cases is that more weight helps resist the force of pulling cables out of recalcitrant jacks.   Plus, I just like the feel of them.

Cancelled: 2012 Eastern Sierra Synthesizer Adventure Camp

I've really enjoyed the synth meets I've gone to at various locations in California.  They always end up being so short.

So, I've decided to host a weekend camp here June 29 - July 1.

Where here is:

-5 hrs from LA and Las Vegas
-6 hrs from SF bay area
-halfway between Yosemite and Death Valley National Parks (~1 hr away each)
-in the desert, on the edge of the deepest valley (bottom at 4,000') with the highest mountains (14,400+') in the contiguous US
-near the oldest living things known on earth (Bristlecone Pines)
-a few miles from natural hot springs
-near lava tubes to explore/make sounds in
-at a former and recently refurbished music camp with views, cabins, camping, hot showers, big meeting room, dining hall, and outdoor ampitheater with a fire pit (and electricity!)

The area where I live is worthy of an extended vacation if you're into exploring deserts and mountains, no matter where you live in the world.

We're really excited to have some great people joining us for workshops and performances.

Johnny Woods will be leading workshops on video synthesis.

Greg Surges will be talking about his unique custom synth/computer interfaces in detail, and leading a more interactive session on using arduino (arduini?) for synth purposes.

Please contact me if you'd like to make a presentation!

Performance/jam opportunities will be plentiful.

DETAILS:

Cost is $120/person for the weekend, including shared cabin accommodations Friday-Saturday and most meals.  Payment to paypal (at) goike (dot) com.

Beds are mostly bunks in 3-4 rooms per cabin, please bring your own bedding.  There will be more bunks than particiants, so it won't be crowded.  Camping on premises is welcome too.

Cabins have large kitchens, and we can also use the dining hall/kitchen.  Meal details will be forthcoming when we get an estimate of how many people will be participating, but meals Friday dinner- Sunday breakfast are included, please let us know if you are vegetarian/vegan.

The facility (http://www.highsierraretreats.org/) doesn't allow pets or smoking on premises.  (It's a short walk if you need to smoke)

Feel free to email with any questions, contact info above.

The photo is a view from the mountains on other side of the valley.

march 2012

i'm currently behind on releasing the new designs as i'm trying to keep up with orders for existing designs and clear a backlog of commitments.  thanks to everyone for the patience and support.   i spend almost all the time that i'm not at my day job doing this, and it is challenging to keep up.   one way i'm addressing that is a diy/flatpack/modular design that may be the first to be released as it will be cut by machines.  it will be simple, inexpensive, and elegant.  i'm just about to get the prototype pieces cut, stay tuned.
